GATE Marking Scheme 2018 :

The online examination for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) will be organized for 23 papers. Since 2017 a new section i.e. Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences is included in XE paper. There will be total 65 question in all subject of 100 marks. Duration to solve the question paper will be 03 hour. Applicants have to choose only one single paper out of 23 subjects. There will be negative marking of 1/3 marks for 01 mark answer as well as 2/3 mark will be deduced from 02 mark answer. Question Paper will be set in MCQ & NAT format.

Process to Calculate GATE 2018 Scores :

Firstly there will be two possibilities i.e. Single Session & Multiple Session examination. The Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati will calculate the marks through Standard Deviation method. It will collect raw marks from the single shift examination as per the guidelines of the IIT Guwahati. For the examination conducted into multiple shifts the department will adopt Normalization method to collect the raw marks for the papers.

What is Normalization Method for GATE Result 2018 ?

CE, CS, EC, EE and ME are such few subjects for which examination will held into Multiple Sessions. Hence the raw answer will be calculated through Normalization Method only. In this process the scores of the participants will be normalized to remove the discontinuity of difficulty level in multiple session.
