Phase-II Main Examination
For Generalist candidates, the objective Main Examination carries 250 marks and includes Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language and Computer Knowledge. While for Specialist candidates, an additional 50-mark technical/professional knowledge test is included. The objective test is followed by a 30-mark descriptive English test consisting of Essay, Precis and Comprehension. The descriptive test is qualifying in nature and its marks are not counted for shortlisting for Interview or final selection.
There is also a one-fourth mark penalty for each wrong answer in the objective tests, except for the English Language test.
